-
Lifespan: Typically lives for 3 – 5 years with proper care.
-
Water Temperature: Prefers warmer water, ideally 24°C – 28°C (75°F – 82°F).
-
pH Level: They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water, between 5.5 – 7.0.
-
Diet: Omnivorous. They happily eat high-quality flakes, micro-pellets, and frozen foods like daphnia or bloodworms.
-
Temperament: Extremely peaceful and one of the best schooling fish. They stay tight together, making them look stunning in a group.
-
Tank Setup: They look best in a planted tank with a dark substrate. They are sensitive to water quality, so regular water changes are a must.
Pro Tip: Rummy Nose Tetras are known as “canary fish” for aquariums. If their red nose starts to fade or turn pale, it is usually a sign that the water quality has dropped or the fish are stressed!
